I've been a maker since I can remember. My first creative project most likely involved constructing something out of acorns, flower petals, and moss.
My previous careers include elementary and middle school teacher, bartender, managing editor at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books, and a freelance writer and editor. I am the mother of two amazing young men. I am at my essence a human being, a mother, an artist, and a lover of words, magic, and kindness.
In 2010, sensing a need in my community to make creative expression more accessible, I founded BraveGirlsArt, a venture that later became The Creativity Caravan, the small business I co-founded in 2013 with my partner, Maya Stein.
The Creativity Caravan’s programs were centered on the joy of discovery and power of collaborative learning. We offered art and writing experiences, as well as other events and creative opportunities for kids and adults of all ages and abilities. Our previous brick-and-mortar location was in Montclair, New Jersey, but we were passionate about traveling in our 1972 caravan and bringing creativity to communities everywhere, so in August of 2019 we uprooted ourselves and began traveling full time. In April 2020 we found our HOME — a small fairytale cottage in Midcoast Maine called Toad Hall. I am currently the Program Director at Waterfall Arts, a community arts center in Belfast, Maine.
“Tingle” was actually my middle name at birth. Somewhere along the way I decided it suited me better than my original last name and moved it front and center. If you really knew me you'd know I love Nutella, a glass of bourbon neat, and spaghetti with meatballs. I used to be a pretty wicked ping-pong player, and with a little practice I could probably still surprise you with my backhand. I cut, paste, sew, and create anywhere and everywhere.
